The wind blew all night and we awoke at 6:30 AM to the sound of a gentle rain. We enjoyed the rare rain and had coffee and Cheerios for breakfast. We checked in at the 49er kiosk and at the Visitor Center, still sprinkling and raining. Proceeded to 20 Mule Team Canyon and walked around Bryan hiked up to an open mind on the side of a hill you could still go in 30 feet or so. Bulldozers have been in this Canyon blocking entrances to many mines damaging areas in the process. Doing so to "protect people" causing other damage, such a shame!!
Back to camp for lunch still cloudy and humid. Stopped at the Death Valley Museum to inquire location of foundation were building used for museum was originally located in the 20 Mule Team Canyon, but the employee didn't know - may not be visible now after floods in August of 2004. Stayed in camp reading for the afternoon. Bryan walked up to the teahouse above Furnace Creek Inn and walked along ridgeline to a memorial marker/grave site. Back to camp to relax. Hamburger barbecue dinner before sunset. Still cloudy but no more rain. Had a campfire tonight and watched a DVD. Few bats flying around, they must know it's Halloween. Nice relaxing evening, no wind but we put the awning up as a precaution.
