0700 we awoke and had a healthy breakfast of Cheerios. Bryan walked down to the campground office and reserved us tickets on the 0900 Navajo Tapestry boat tour. The shuttle picked us up at our camp site and took us to the hotel were we picked up our tickets. It is colder and windy so Nancy is going to bundle up good as this will be a three hour tour (the weather started getting rough, the tiny ship was tossed...).

The trip was quite windy but was real neat, we sat on the top open deck of the boat for most of the tour. We started the tour by heading to the dam. The water level is about 100 feet below full, that's about 1/2 full. The white "bathtub ring" is easy to see, this is the white layer of rock that is covered in calcium from being under water. The dark black streaks running down this white layer are iron and manganese from the rain water running off the rocks and soil into the lake. This is the "tapestry" that we will see along the canyon walls.

We left the dam and headed up Antelope Canyon for about 1 mile, this is quite narrow with many beautiful sights. The water was very calm and the fishing is reported to be very good here. As we returned back to the main lake channel the water got rougher and we see house boaters towing power boats but no skiers today!

On to Navajo Canyon which is wide compared to Antelope Canyon. Navajo Canyon has many spectacular canyon walls with the "tapestries" running down them. Some of these walls are 600 feet straight up, such as the wall the tour boat stopped at. These are all very beautiful. It was fun to look at the rock formations and imagine cartoon characters (Nancy thought so anyway).

After exploring Navajo Canyon we headed back the marina. Then hopped onto the shuttle which took us back to our campsite where we had lunch. We stayed at camp and relaxed the rest of the afternoon as the wind was getting stronger.

We finished off the potato casserole and vegetables for dinner. We cleaned up the trailer and got it ready so we could leave early the next morning.
