We woke up to a clear and chilly morning, we had breakfast and headed off to see Bryce today. Nancy is feeling much better today.

We arrived at Bryce where the temperature was 45 degrees cold! The elevation at Bryce is nearly 9000 ft.

The shuttle busses ended a few days ago on Sept. 30th so we had to do our own driving. We drove to the end of the park to Rainbow point and worked our way back.

Aguereberry Camp

We stopped at Black Birch canyon, Ponderosa Canyon, Agua Canyon, Natural Bridge, Farview Point, Bryce Point, Sunset Point, and Sunrise Point where we hiked the Queens Garden trail.

This was a very interesting hike down among the Hoodoos and see the grottos up close. The "Queen" was down there overlooking her garden!
The was a .8 mike hike down a pretty steep trail, meaning the hike was steep getting back up to the top! We actually took longer to go down then up, it took 50 minutes to get down as we took most of our picture on the hike down. We made it back up in 45 minutes. It was a tiring but great hike. The afternoon light was great, the white backlighting gave some of the formations an iridescent/luminescent quality to them.

We then returned to Bryce Point to take advantage of the changing light and get more photographs. The was the spot where we have a neat photo of all four kids back when the were 4-8 years old. We then headed to the Bryce Lodge as Nancy wanted to see what it looked like.

Then we headed back to Zion for a wonderful hamburger dinner. After dinner we headed back out to the Watchman trail near our camp to get more nighttime sky photographs. Then it was time for a quick camp shower and then off to bed.
