Up for breakfast at 0800 and then off to catch the shuttle from the visitor center into Zion. We first stopped at the court of Patriarchs where we saw Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob (mountain peaks). The moon was still visible between the peaks and it was a beautiful sight!

Wild turkeys were also wandering around the place.

Then we hopped onto a shuttle to Zion Lodge were we hiked up to the three Emerald pools (Lower, Middle, and Upper). The water levels were low and the trail was steep to the upper pool where it was very cool and shady. We saw a tarantula on the trail up to the upper falls! There were plenty of squirrels around who were busy getting ready for winter and did not pause to stop from their eating and gathering as we walked by.

There were big "fuzzy" bees busy buzzing from flower to flower that we watched for a few minutes on the hike back.

We finally made it back to the lodge were we had an ice-cream and rested. Today was much warmer than yesterday when we first arrived in Zion.

Back on the shuttle we went, off to see Weeping rock. The Weeping Rock trail was a steep but short hike to the Weeping Rock. Weeping Rock is a cliff alcove with dripping spring water that creates a tropical ecosystem. There were Maidenhair ferns, Moss growing on the rocks, and spent Orchids with green foliage still present. This would have been pretty to see earlier in the year when all would have been in full bloom.

At 1400 we hopped back on the shuttle to ride to the end of the canyon. We then returned to the visitor center and walked back to camp. Nancy was starting to feel pretty bad with a cold coming on. We rested a bit before making dinner.

At 1800 we barbequed chicken for dinner and then cleaned up for the evening. We viewed the photos we had taken earlier today. It was a nice evening, no wind but the temperature was dropping and getting quite cool.

1930 Nancy rested while Bryan went for a walk on the Watchman trail which was right behind our campground. Bryan took his camera and tripod and managed to get some spectacular pictures of the night sky. The Milky way was very bright from here!
