Trip Log 110

6:30am Thursday left Livermore, driving through to Las Vegas. Took 5 south, crossed over to 99 south stopping at Flying J for fuel. Took 99 south to 58 east, the truck suddenly lost power and we had to pull off the freeway. Pushed the OnStar button for help. Adviser ran diagnostics confirming a fuel/injector system problem (no duh). OnStar advised to shut off engine and restart it, ran fine when we did. Check engine light stayed on and the fuel gauge was not working though. Onstar called nearest GMC service center and set up for us to go there. They were at lunch when we arrived so we also had lunch and waited. The techs checked for gasoline in tank (I knew that was not the case) and then hooked up the diagnostic hand unit, found a wire to the injectors had worn through and was shorting out. Taped wire and we were on our way, no charge from GM!

On to Las Vegas and Sam's Town RV park, really a glorified parking lot. The weather was calm and warm. We set up camp and walked over to the casino, it was VERY smoky inside. We just wanted a quick dinner and not finding anything except expensive food we went the food court and had fast food...
