RAIN! We woke up at 7am to the sound of rain, we did see lightening last night and now it's raining. It rain rained steadily for over an hour.

We went out for a drive in the rain before breakfast, saw lots of water and puddles forming but no floods, it was 54, nice and cool. We then headed back to camp for breakfast and watch the rain.

After breakfast we headed up to Zabriskie point to take some pictures. There was new snow visible on Telescope peak. On the way back to camp we saw and photographed "Notched Leaf Phacelia" , "Evening Primrose", and "Gravel Ghost" along the roadside.

We then headed over to Furnace Creek Inn for the 11:00 tour. The in is very elegant and secluded. The stone and wood work of the Inn is very beautiful and skillfully done, they also have a nice garden at the center of the complex. We then headed back to camp for lunch.

2pm we headed out to drive the Greenwater Valley Road (Furnace Creek Wash Road). We first went up to Dante's View where it was windy and cold. We found the site of Greenwater, and old copper mining town. We explored the old town site for an hour, we found a few pieces of old wood, some glass and a large amount of old tin cans from the early 1900's, of all shapes and sizes.

Leaving Greenwater we headed south down the Greenwater road to the highway. We then headed back down into Death Valley over Jubilee Pass. The hillsides are covered with dried up plant stems, probably from the extraordinary floor bloom of 2005. This was a long drive back to camp and we were ready for dinner when we arrived!

It was still too windy for a camp fire so we had dinner inside again, played dominoes and went to bed. There were a few rain drops to lull us to sleep.
