Nash Trip 19
11/07/2006 Today is election day, we got up and voted early then left for DeathValley! The weather is bright and clear, it's been warm for November. Highway 120 is open so we decided to go that way. The drive over Tiaoga pass was beautiful with the fall colors.

We came to Mono Lake where we headed south on 395 to June Lake where we were considering camping for the night. The camp grounds looked closed and as it was only 2PM we decided to continue on to Death Valley.

We headed back north on 395 for a few miles until we came to the 120 east exit, headed east. Followed 120 east, then took highway 6 north until we got to 95 where we headed south. We stopped for a gourmet dinner at McDonald's in Tonopah! After dinner we again headed south on 95.
At Scotty' Junction we headed west down highway 267 toward Scotty's Castle and Death Valley. We arrived at Mesquite Springs at about 6:30 and set up camp. It became windy making it difficult to get the campfire lit, we got it lit but the wind kept up even getting stringer so we let the fire die and headed indoors. The sky was beautiful filled with stars, we even had a curious kangaroo rat visit us at the campfire!
This concluded our first day as we went to bed.
